Tulalip and Marysville are part of the Marysville School District. There are 28 total schools that serve more than 11,000 students each school year. Students in the Marysville School District start school usually right after Labor Day in September and get out of School in June. Marysville has a special education department called Life Skills Program. They offer lots of activities outside of school for students like Alfy’s Open Mic Night. According to GreatSchools.org, 10th Street Middle School is the top-rated school in Marysville and Sunnyside Elementary coming in second.
The high schools are unique in the Marysville School District because they are broken out into small learning communities. The learning communities include Academy of Construction & Engineering (ACE), Arts & Technology, Biomed Academy, International School of Communications, Pathways, and School for The Entrepreneur. These small learning communities are in two different high schools; Marysville Pilchuck High School and Getchell High School. There is also Mountain View High School and Heritage High School that are on separate campuses.

The history of Marysville, WA is that it was founded in 1878 when Mr. Comeford bought 1,280 acres and it became the town of Marysville. The first School opened in 1879 and then a post office followed along with a mill. The settlers would come to Marysville by steamboat and work in farming or mills that furnished lumber for buildings. What brought many residents to Marysville was when the railroad tracks were laid. During the 1920’s there were tons of Strawberries being harvested. Marysville got it’s nickname “The Strawberry City” from the celebrations of all the strawberries. Since then every summer the City of Marysville has the Strawberry Festival, something the residents always look forward to!
